Students will be able to understand and appreciate the history, development, as well ascharacteristics of this art form in different historical periods through introductions on the concepts,theories and masterworks of Chinese dance. Hands-on activities are emphasized to help studentslearn the basic skills of Chinese dance and experience using it as a medium of expression. Their basic dance techniques and personal expressions will be assessed.Final group dance demonstration學 生 將 以 小 組 形 式 於 第 十 四 週 展 示 所 學 習 的 中 國 民 俗 舞 蹈 , 包 括 展 示 基 礎 舞 蹈 技 巧 、 表 現力 , 和 運 用 舞 蹈 語 言 表 達 情 感 。Students will be divided into groups and demonstrate dance combinations on Chinese Folk Dancein week 14. Their basic dance techniques and personal expressions will be assessed.Dance journal學 生 需 要 每 次 做 上 課 札 記 , 歸 納 、 梳 理 和 反 思 課 堂 學 習 的 知 識 。 導 師 將 於 第 七 週 檢 閱 札 記 及給 予 評 語 , 而 評 分 則 在 第 十 四 週 後 進 行 。 這 項 目 既 可 以 加 深 記 憶 力 , 又 能 觀 察 評 估 學 生 的 學習 和 分 析 能 力 。Students are required to write a summary on what they have learnt after each lesson to form a dancejournal. A non-graded submission will be done in week 7 for instructors’ comments. A gradedassessment will take place after week 14. This assessment task helps students reinforcing their3

knowledge on Chinese dance. It is a useful tool to evaluate their learning process and analyticalabilities.Grading1. Attendance & Class Participation 20%2. Mid-term group dance demonstration 25%3.
