<strong>HUMA</strong><strong>1650</strong>/AW<strong>Art</strong>/Fall/13Intended Learning OutcomesUpon completion <strong>of</strong> the course, students will1. have a basic knowledge <strong>of</strong> the scope, diversity and forms <strong>of</strong> <strong>Western</strong> art;2. acquire analytical, appreciative, and expressive skills to engage with a wide range <strong>of</strong>artworks and art practices;3. develop an ability to apply the taught concepts and analytical skills to theappreciation <strong>of</strong> artworks in both oral and written format.Group project presentationStudents have to form groups <strong>of</strong> 4. Each group has to choose an artwork found in Hong Kongand do a presentation <strong>of</strong> 10 minutes. It can be a painting in a gallery, museum or an artist’sstudio, a sculpture in a public space, or an installation. In the group presentation, you areexpected to apply the concepts learnt in lecture to analyze the chosen artwork. You need tohave my approval for the chosen artwork. The deadline for handing in the topic is 10 thOctober, 2013 (Thursday).Voluntary field trip / museum visitA field trip/museum visit will be organized. Participation is voluntary and will not affectcourse assessment.Assessment <strong>of</strong> students’ performance1. Attendance 10%– checked randomly after the add/drop period, 1% will be deducted for each absencefrom lecture or tutorial; 2% will be deducted from each absence from grouppresentations2.
