Sidor will begin his duties at SPCC on July 1.Sidor named SPCC presidentThe Board of Trustees of <strong>South</strong> <strong>Piedmont</strong> <strong>Community</strong> <strong>College</strong> has announced the appointment of Dr. Stanley Sidor as itsnext president. This appointment is contingent upon State Board approval.Upon approval, Sidor will assume the duties of president on July 1. He comes to SPCC from Daytona State <strong>College</strong> inDaytona Beach, Fla.“I’m really excited about the college,” Sidor, 54, told The Enquirer-Journal of Monroe. “It has a tremendous amount ofpotential.”Sidor has served as provost of the Advanced Technology Center Campus and associate vice president for the <strong>College</strong> ofEngineering Technology and Occupational Programs at Daytona State <strong>College</strong> in Daytona Beach, Fla., since 2004. He hasalso served the college as the executive director and dean of the Advanced Technology <strong>College</strong> from 2001-2005.


Prior to his service at Daytona State <strong>College</strong>, he served as the director of Industry and Workforce Training/regional directorof the Michigan Manufacturing Technology Center at Northwestern Michigan <strong>College</strong> from 1989-2001. Sidor receivedbachelor’s degrees in environment science-sociology and business administration from Aquinas <strong>College</strong> in Grand Rapids,Mich. He earned a master’s degree in manufacturing administration from Western Michigan University and a doctoratein educational leadership from the University of Central Florida.“Please join the Board of Trustees in welcoming Dr. Sidor and wife Michele to <strong>South</strong> <strong>Piedmont</strong> as they begin the transitionfrom Florida to North Carolina,” said Harvey Leavitt, chairman of the SPCC Board of Trustees.Return to April Insider home page
