We remember JessieJessie was someone who treated others withrespect, was involved in serving others and verymuch exhibited love towards her family. As a community, we can look at Jessie’s exampleand can create something that is positive in bothits message and in its longer-term contribution tosociety. We therefore have the Jessie Leung Scholarship. We have enough money to offer a total of $25,000in scholarships each year for the next ten years. The scholarship aims to encourage students todemonstrate unselfishness in areas such asserving the community, in helping and assistingothers and in supporting family members. The College very much appreciates those whogenerously donated to create such a scholarship.

What does the scholarship involve?• Students can either nominate themselves or be nominated by a friend, teacher, parent etc.• Each person must fill in a nomination form. The form is available here.• Students have to be able to demonstrate that they have achieved certainthings.• Each nominated person would need to write about what they had achievedand if short listed, attend an interview.• A selection panel comprising of the Principal and two Vice-Principals willdecide as to who would be awarded the scholarship/s.• The actual number of scholarship awardees may vary depending on theperformance and abilities of the students of that particular year.• That means the yearly amount could go to one student or could be divided upamongst a number of worthy applicants

So what would I have to demonstrate?•The College is looking for students who have shown unselfishness, love, care and sacrifice to others within the community (includingfamily members).•The actions demonstrated should have been done voluntarily, ie,the person chose to do so of their own accord.•The actions were not carried out aiming for reward orcompensation.•The scholarship is seen as being separate to the College’s existingreward system, for example, the Community Service award system.•The scholarship is not a reward for those who have ‘done the most.’•Application forms are now available, with this year’s award beingannounced in September 2012.•Thus, students have the ability to show their love, concern, compassion, care and sacrifice to others NOW.
