VICENTE FOX QUESADAPRESIDENT OF MEXICOPeople, organizations and nations are more interested in sharing their own experiencesand in knowing how effective solutions have been implemented to solve differentchallenges regarding water issues.We know that waste and scarcity of this resource might affect social welfare andlimit the development.Therefore, World Water Fora have become one of the most important events at theinternational level.The 4th World Water Forum was organized by the National Water Commission ofMexico and the World Water Council. This important event was held in Mexico City onMarch, 2006.With the purpose of facilitating the organization of the Forum, the world wasdivided into the following five regions:• Africa.• Americas.• Asia-Pacific.• Europe.• Middle-East and North Africa.Each Region was organized in a specific way and as part of its important work,they produced a document that shows the main water related problems in the region,that explains the progress made so far in their solution and that evaluates the futureperspectives.These documents are a very important source of knowledge and I am sure that theywill become a key reference in the future.Finally, I would like to reiterate my recognition to the superb job performed by thedifferent specialists, institutions and organizations involved in the regional process.Their professionalism, enthusiasm and commitment have been outstanding.
