Artists are not required to have previousexperience in public art. Emerging artists are encouraged to apply <strong>for</strong> this commission.Maintenance and DurabilityAll applicants are expected to consider the issues of long-term conservation and maintenance ofpublic art, along with time and budget. Public art projects are in the public realm and maythere<strong>for</strong>e be exposed to weather, physical stresses and subject to vandalism. Public art projectsshould be fabricated of highly durable, low-maintenance materials. Semi-finalists areencouraged to consult with a professional conservator prior to the submission of a final proposal.Artist proposals awarded contracts will be reviewed by the Denver International AirportManagement and Operations divisions <strong>for</strong> adherence to all <strong>airport</strong>, City, and federal standards ofmaintenance and durability including ADA standards.How to Apply <strong>for</strong> this Opportunity:All artists who wish to apply <strong>for</strong> public art opportunities at Denver International Airport mustsubmit a portfolio <strong>for</strong> inclusion in the DIA South Terminal Redevelopment (STRP) ArtistRegistry.Registry Description:DIA’s South Terminal Redevelopment Program (STRP) will generate over $4.25 million inpermanent and temporary public art and design commissions. The DEN Art and CultureCommittee seeks artists who are interested incorporating their designs and ideas into thisunique setting.The STRP Artist Registry is now accepting portfolios of past work (or relevant conceptual work)via Slideroom.com <strong>for</strong> Phase II commissions, which includes permanent and integratedartwork, design projects and temporary installations <strong>for</strong> the new South Terminal RedevelopmentProgram.All portfolios entered into the registry during Phase II will be automatically entered into a broadpool of artists to be considered <strong>for</strong> all future phases of STRP commissions. (The duration of theregistry is expected to be 4-5 years). Artists may remove their portfolios from the registry orchange the media/materials on the registry at any time by sending an email toSTRPart@fly<strong>denver</strong>.com.
