A letter from the Developmentand Alumni Association DirectorDear Alumni, Parents, and Friends,I am filled with thanks as I write this letter. Thanks to awonderful group of JCHS friends, as I have just returnedfrom maternity leave. Thank you to Nancy Shultz, aformer Development Director, who took over for mewhile I was taking time off. Robbin Lynch, the 300Club Chairman, allowed me to have peace of mind tostay at home with our daughter Olivia Grace. Thank youalso to my assistant, Courtney Albert, for her hard workand dedication to her job.The 300 Club was a great success. Many thanks to our300 Club Committee and all the volunteers who helpedmake the event possible. The theme, “Black and WhiteBall,” was laid out by decorating chairpeople MiriamBurns and Karen Manning. Colleen (Nash) Becht(1980), Tracy Carlton, Sylvia Collada, Teresita(Valdivia) Collins (1975), Debbie Deering, MollyHolman, Kathy (Matula) <strong>John</strong>son (1983), CarolMatulonis, Tammy Matthes, Ginny McAlarnen, BethMcHugh, Bambi Stock, Lauralee Vaughn, LeonardWheeley, and Teresa Wonka also worked tirelessly onthe 300 Club Committee.Father Barrett, Marty and Sue EllenSanders (1st place winners), Ben HopperFirst timeattendees Martyand Sue EllenSanders won the$10,000; alumniJeremy andMelissa(Richmond)McWhorterwon secondprize, and parents, coach and volunteer Michael andSuzi Howard won third place. Congratulations!Some of our biggest auction items this year included apool remodel by A & G Concrete Pools ($3,000), Lasikvision correction by Florida Eye Institute Laser Center($2,400), a week at a ski resort in Utah ($4,000), and aColleen (Nash) Becht painting ($2,400). Thank youto all our donors who helped make the live and silentauctions diverse and plentiful.I would like to thank Father George at St. Anastasia, FatherHorgan at St. Lucie <strong>Catholic</strong>, Father Szpieg at St. ElizabethAnn Seton, and Father Ulto at St. Bernadette for theirdedication to <strong>Catholic</strong> education and their generositytoward our Mega Drawing. The drawing was againlucrative and produced very happy winners. Thank youalso to Holy Cross, St. Helens, St. Joseph, and Holy Familyfor their support.Connie Driscoll,Ben Hopper, andauctineer,Leonard Wheeleydraw for the$10,000.The next event at <strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> is the Annual GolfTournament. The tournament, which typically sells out early,will be held on April 14th at Gator Trace Golf Course.There are opportunities for different levels of sponsorshipagain this year. Please read the last page of the newsletterfor more details. Prizes for the tournament winners andraffle winners include golf foursomes to prestigious coursesthroughout Florida, large gift and sports packages, VIPtreatment for ten in the Mets’ Suite, and much more.
