John Carroll High SchoolAlumni and Friends Connectionswww.JohnCarrollHigh.comVolume 23, #3Spring Newsletter 2007A letter from the PresidentDear Friends of John Carroll,We are now entering the holy season of Lent. The word ‘lent’ comes from an old English word forspringtime. Lent is our time for revival and renewal. Itis the springtime of the Spirit. Like spring, it is a timefor newness of life and for growth—growth in the Spiritand in our relationship with the Lord. That sense of revival and renewal is veryevident on the campus of our beloved John CarrollCatholic High School. Our students continue to excelacademically as well as in extracurricular activities andservice to the community. One particularly excitingproject that our students are involved with is theconstruction of a Habitat for Humanity home. It notonly gives the students great practical experience butalso teaches them a sense of social responsibility andwill directly benefit a family in our own Ft. Piercecommunity!Support for our school remains at an all-timehigh. We just had our annual 300 Club Gala event, which again was extremely successful and will help us toprovide for the ongoing needs of students and faculty. This January through a generous anonymous donation,we were able to install new “Mimio” (similar to SmartBoards) technology in all of our classrooms. Thesedevices allow for great diversity and ease of instructionand are loved by both faculty and students alike. The newsletter is written by Jennifer Trefelner.Contributing articles are written byRev. Thomas E. Barrett, Joe Paschal,Diane Hanna and Ben Hopper.Indeed it isspringtime forJCCHS. At a timewhen enrollment atCatholic schools islower, ourenrollment numbersremain strong. InDecember wetested 135applicants foradmission to next year’s freshman class. Our next test date is March 17 th .I know that students and parents seek out our schoolbecause of the quality education and individual care thatstudents entrusted to our care receive. And we knowthat we could not do what we do without your continuedgenerosity and support! We thank you for yourgenerosity, your involvement, and your care. May Godbless each of you with a wonderful and joyous Easter!Sincerely Yours in Christ,Rev. Thomas E. BarrettPresidentOur Mission Statement: John Carroll High School is a ministry of the Diocese of Palm Beach committed to the spiritual, academic, physical, and emotional growth of our student body.
