Dear Friends of <strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>,Thank you for taking the time to read the 2007-2008 <strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong>Annual Giving Campaign brochure. It is because of our generous benefactorsthat we are able to build upon the successes of the past and work togethertoward a bright future for our school. This report will highlight the generosity ofour supporters from last year’s campaign as well as provide options for makinga gift for this school year.The <strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> Administrative Team:Jim Clark (Director of Guidance),Ben Hopper (Principal),Linda Easom (Assistant Principal), andRev. Thomas E. Barrett (President).We would like to begin by expressingour sincere gratitude to the donors whocontinue to support <strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong>financially. Due to the success of thiscampaign, we are able to provide for theever-changing educational andtechnological needs that give ourstudents a wholistic educationalexperience and a competitive edge.The entire faculty, staff, andadministration are working togetherwith our alumni and friends to secure abrighter future for our students as we continue to stand firm in promoting theschool’s mission of being “committed to the spiritual, academic, physical, andemotional growth of our student body.”JCHS students continue to learn about thelove of God, His Son Jesus, and thecontinuing presence of the Spirit in religionclasses, Alpha retreats, and prayer services.They have excellent learning opportunitiesthrough advanced placement, dualenrollment, and honors classes. A widevariety of extracurricular and communityservice opportunities are also available.JCHS students truly are well-rounded andwell-prepared when they graduate.Jeff Eubank and Rebecca Schoonovervoted 2007 Most Athletic.Nearly every <strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> graduate (98%)attends college following graduation, with more than half attaining the BrightFutures Scholarship. There are no better ambassadors for our school thanour students! If one looks at the accomplishments of our current students andthe achievements of our graduates, the importance of fostering the JCHStradition cannot be overstated.


Joey Miller (1960) of St. LucieBattery & Tire sponsored aHabitat for Humanity home that<strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> students builtduring the school year.In order to maintain the success of ourprograms and services, we must continue toprovide both excellence in education andmeaningful spiritual development. Yourdonations are essential to meeting thefinancial demands of operating a private<strong>Catholic</strong> school.As you read this brochure, you will noticethat donations can be made in many differentways as outlined in our “Methods of Giving”section. For example, gifts of cash, check, orby credit card are simple and direct.Contributions of mutual funds, stocks, or bonds can also be transferred to theschool easily. You can honor someone special in your life who has passed awayby making a Memorial Gift in his or her name. Local businesses or individualshave the opportunity to create a scholarship in their name, and gifts of realproperty or in-kind donations are greatly appreciated. Where is your money going?All funds raised in the Annual Giving Campaign are deposited into the Education Fund.This account is spent directly on current and future <strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> students, schoolfacilities and improvements, and educational equipment and training.Funds from the <strong>2006</strong>-2007 Annual Giving Campaign helped to:* Purchase 28 new Dell Optiplex computers, each with a17” flat panel LCD monitor for every classroom* Renovate the band room and band director’s office* Purchase an iMAC computer for a new course“World and Electronic Music” in which studentsexplore modes of electronic music production, learnpod casting, produce audio programs, andmanipulate computer-generated music.* Acquire two Mobile Modular classrooms so all full timeteachers have their own room.* Complete the state of the art rubberized track.The blue track will allow JC to host regulation meets,ensure that the students have a safe running surface,and attract community events such as the Susan G.Komen Relay For Life to take place on campus.* Purchase Thor Guard, a lightining sensing and trackingdevice to keep students, parents, and fans safeduring stormy weather.* Upgrade the cafeteria equipment with a new oven and range.The school is able to offer a new variety of healthy mealsfor the students at lunchtime.<strong>2006</strong>-2007 SGA officers“<strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> students havecontributed much of their timeand talents to help thecommunity through variousservice projects. Methods of Giving<strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> offers several methods of giving, all of which providetax deductions or other financial benefits in addition to helping the school.Gifts of CashGifts of cash, check, and by credit card are always welcome. BequestsYou can make a charitable gift by bequest or your will. Pleaseindicate that you would like to remainanonymous on the donation card.<strong>John</strong> <strong>Carroll</strong> students won 6 of the 12 St. Lucie County Young Floridian categories theyentered. The purpose of the county-wide competition is “to recognize outstanding seniors forachievement and service to their school and community.” Students must complete entrypackets and are interviewed by a panel of qualified judges for each category.General measurements to determine an individual’s qualifications are achievement,leadership, and character. Each winner receives a full-tuition scholarship to Indian RiverCommunity College and $1,000 from the St. Lucie County Education Foundation.
