WHAT IS FREEMASONRY?Freemasonry is a society of men working togetherin the interest of serving mankind.HOW DO MASONS WORK TO SERVEMANKIND?Masons work to enhance their communities and tohelp needy people in all walks of life.HOW DO MASONS ENHANCE THEIRCOMMUNITIES?Masons assist public schools and other public bodiesin a variety of ways. Masons and members ofMasonic affiliated bodies assist as tutors. SomeLodges have scholarship programs, student recognitionprograms, and activities recognizing theachievements of students and teachers. Masonsserve as volunteers for many community projects.The reason you may not have learned about thisinvolvement is that Masons seek only to provideservice.HOW DO MASONS ASSIST THOSEIN NEED?Most Masonic Lodges and Masonic affiliated bodiesprovide funds and services for those in need.Some of these activities include helping childrenwho are crippled or burned or who have learningdisabilities or visual prohlems, or who need denialrestoration, and contributing to cancer and otherresearch and to other health and rehabilitationservices. Masons and Masonically related bodiesspend over two million dollars a day for charitableand benevolent purposes. In addition to Nationaland Statewide programs, help is extended to solvepersonal problems, such as paying medical bills,restoring fire or flood damaged homes and assist-HOW CAN I AFFORD TO BE A MEMBER?Masons and those in Masonically affiliated bodiesoften have only modest incomes. Much of the moneyspent on charity is obtained by sponsoringfund raising activities.AS A MASON, WHAT WOULDI GET OUT OF IT?The satisfaction of knowing you are helping thosein need and knowing that future generations maybe better off because of your efforts.WHAT ARE SOME OF THE BENEFITSOF MASONRY?Fellowship. Fellowship forms a bond betweenmembers. Masons plan many activities for the entirefamily. Our families generally share our interestsand goals. Masons assist distressed brotherMasons and the wives, widows, and children ofMasons. Brotherly love is both an obligation and aprivilege.IS MASONRY A SECRET SOCIETY?No. Masonry is a society which has some secrets.Our modes of recognition, opening and closing ceremoniesand the ceremonies of conferring the degreesof Masonry are our only secrets.
