1970 RETRO DEALERSHIP
Don’t miss your last chance to walk into
a Dodge-Chrysler-Plymouth dealership
as if it’s 1970. See “showroom new” examples
of your favorite models from ’70.
We have the new ‘Cuda and Challenger
as well as the redesigned Road Runner,
Coronet and Charger in the showroom
and a service department full of “customer
cars.” SEE PAGE 21.
INVITATIONAL DISPLAYS
Building T is home to an amazing variety
of cool Mopars. See everything from
actual TV and movie cars (and stars) to
200+ MPH street cars. Antiques, musclecars
and late models provide something
for everyone to enjoy. SEE PAGES 17-20.
AAR ’ CUDA &
CHALLENGER T/A REUNION
Purpose-built for the Trans Am series in
1970, the AAR and T/A are two of the
most coveted E-Bodies with enthusiasts
today. We have assembled an amazing
display of the high-winding 340+6 street
cars as well as Sam Posey’s original #76
race car. Building T has a dozen handpicked
feature vehicles with over 50
more on the Showfi eld. SEE PAGE 17.
BARN FINDS •••••••••••
Building Y is a little diff erent this year.
You won’t fi nd any shiny chrome or
over-restored paint. Instead, we fi lled
HIGHLIGHTS
YOUR GUIDE TO THE CARLISLE CHRYSLER NATIONALS
it with Barn Finds and Time Bandits! We
found the coolest Mopars right out of the
barns, yards and side streets of America.
We also assembled a few of what we are
calling “Time Bandits.” Time Bandits are
cars that aren’t quite Survivors but they
aren’t in need of a full restoration in order
to be enjoyed. We like to think of them as
fi xed up old hot rods. SEE PAGE 15.
MOPAR SURVIVORS •••••
Survivors are true time capsules and are
the best way to see exactly how these
vehicles were originally assembled on
the line. They still have their original factory
applied paint, interiors and drive
trains; or at least a minimum of 85% of it.
Thanks to Mel Major we are proud to offer
over forty unrestored Mopars that are
in excellent condition. SEE PAGE 25.
STANDARD OF MOPAR
EXCELLENCE JUDGING •••
The Chrysler Nationals off ers the Standard
of Mopar Excellence (SME) judging
for folks who are ready for more than
just the participant ballot voting of the
Showfi eld. SME participants have their
cars thoroughly examined and evaluated
by a team of Mopar experts using
a 100-point system. SME is led by Dave
Ferro and sponsored by Totally Auto. SEE
ENGINE GIVEAWAY ••••••
We’ve again teamed up with Muscle
Motors and Mopar Muscle magazine for
another cool Engine Giveaway. This time
we built an engine for the small block
fans and came up with a 408-cubic-inch
stroker. It’s pump-gas friendly and produced
439 horsepower and 493.9 ft./lb.
of torque on the dyno. No purchase is
necessary but you must be present on
Sunday at 3 p.m. to win. SEE PAGE 13.
CAR GIVEAWAY •••••••••
Don’t miss your chance to win a 1965
Plymouth Valiant on Saturday. This Valiant
is powered by the legendary slant six
engine and an automatic transmission.
When coupled with a set of Rallye wheels
it makes for a stylish but economical classic.
Be at the stage on Saturday at 5 p.m.
with the Giveaway Car Ticket provided to
you upon entry of the event to be eligible
to win! No purchase is necessary but
you must be present to win. SEE PAGE 13.
ROCK CLIMBING WALL •••
Be sure to check out the Monster Rock
Wall at this year’s show. This is a safe way
for all members of the family – novice to
expert climbers – to test their climbing
abilities in reaching the 24-foot summit.
And, it’s a fun way to boost your adrenaline
at the show! SEE MAP.
ROCK CRAWL •••••••••••
Our rock crawl course consists of rocks
ranging from mild to wild, as well as a
concrete wall for the serious crawlers!
Members of Rausch Creek Off Road Park
will put on demonstrations on Saturday
as well as conduct a seminar entitled
Off -Road 101. The Carlisle Rock Crawl is
also open to Showfi eld participants who
want to give it a try. See Jeeps, Dodge
trucks and tube buggies conquer the
rocks on the North Hill! SEE MAP.
BURNOUT CONTEST •••••
No Carlisle event would be complete
without the burnout contest. “Carlisle
King (or Queen) of the Hill” bragging
rights are up for grabs once again at
the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals. Preregistration
is required at Guest Services. A
show sticker (i.e. registered for vending
or Showfi eld), driver’s license and proof
of insurance are required. Participants
are limited to 10 vehicles and 3 minutes
each.
CLUBS ••••••••••••••••
Clubs are a very important part of the
event. Each year clubs compete to see
which has the most vehicles in attendance
and awards are presented to the
top three. There is also an award presented
to the club who has the coolest hangout.
See who won in 2009 on PAGE 29.
