MemberBoard MemberMichael D. Ward, Ph.D., RTR, FASRTISRRT Regional Director, America'sDr Michael D. Ward is the Associate Dean for Student Programs andProfessor for Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College in St.Louis, Missouri. He received his bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Sciencefrom St. Louis University in 1981, where he graduated Magna CumLaude. He holds a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from theUniversity of Missouri – St. Louis and a Doctor of Philosophy degree inHigher Education Administration from Saint Louis University.Dr Ward has served on and chaired numerous committees and commissionand has been very active in local, state, national and international radiologicscience organizations. At the Missouri affiliate level, he has held the officesof Treasurer, Vice-President, and twice has served as President and Chairman of the Board. In October 1987, theMissouri Society presented Dr Ward with the first “Mallinckrodt Award of Excellence” and later honored himwith “Life Membership” in 1995.At the national level, Dr Ward has served as Vice-President, President-Elect, President, and Chairman of theBoard of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. In June of 1988, he was elevated to Fellow of theASRT and in 1996; ASRT honored him by selecting Dr Ward to be the Hartman Memorial Lecturer. This markedASRT’s 75th birthday and the 100th anniversary of the discovery of X-ray. He currently serves on the Board ofManagement for the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists and has representedthe United States Radiologic Science community as a member of the governing Council of this organizationat meetings in Tokyo, Japan; Lisbon, Portugal; Sydney, Australia; Bridgetown, Barbados; Amsterdam in theNetherlands; Hong Kong, China; Singapore, and Durban, South Africa. Dr Ward was appointed to the Board ofTrustees of the ASRT Education and Research Foundation (the philanthropic arm of the ASRT), and from 2000to 2003 was elected Chairman of the Board of the Foundation. In April 2005, Dr Ward completed his secondthree year appointment on the Board of Directors of the Joint Review Committee on Education in RadiologicTechnology.
