Message from the Executive Director
Dear Friends,
Hospice Caring had a spectacular year in 2011 as we experienced new horizons in our community outreach. Our growth
in program services was fueled by the compassionate generosity of you, our donors. Your belief in our mission enables us
to continue all of our program services, without charge, to the adults and children who come to us for help. Every service
rendered may have a heartbreaking core, but it is shielded with love. Hospice Caring’s dedicated staff and our corps of
everyday angels—more than 350 volunteers—work tirelessly to ensure that every individual who contacts us is given the
gift of “presence”. Our goal is always the same—to do what we can to make the journey easier, to give hope and support
because it is not about us.
This report gives a broad overview of the fabric of Hospice Caring. Our programs’ service stories offer you a glimpse
inside the truly unique role that this organization plays in Montgomery County.
I was fortunate to attend my first Camp Caring in June. It was an incredible weekend as we marked the 10th anniversary
of this special program for grieving children.
Hospice Caring is on a positive trajectory for continued success. We will pursue new fundraising strategies and outreach
approaches to bring our services to more people in our community. Mary Vitek joined our staff this year as a graphic
designer, her creativity continues to speak volumes for our organization.
It is an exciting time for Hospice Caring. We know that our donors have many choices in the nonprofit community and
it is a joy to have your partnership in our progress.
