A Legacy of Caring
At Hospice Caring we celebrate life. Yes, we
are a hospice organization, but dying is part of
living. An important goal of the Patient and
Family Program is to help those we serve live
as fully as possible for whatever time remains.
Our volunteers are committed to honoring and
celebrating patients in their final days.
Hospice Caring volunteers, guided by
compassion, unselfish caring, and patience,
reach out to patients and their families offering
the gifts of their time and their love, a few of
which are shown below.
Maria drives Rose to treatment, and she also
takes Rose to her weekly mah joong game
at the senior center as often as Rose’s health
permits.
Tom’s volunteers stay with him assuring
his safety when his wife needs to be away
from the house. The volunteers also helped
organize a “blow out” birthday party for
Tom, complete with balloons, cake, music,
and myriad guests.
An aggressive brain tumor limits Irene’s life
in many ways. But thanks to her volunteer
Anne, Irene attends a weekly class where she
creates art glass projects.
Roy had been a jazz musician. As he lay
semi-conscious in the nursing home, Mike
played jazz CDs for him. One day, to
everyone’s surprise, Roy started to tap his
fingers in time to the music.
I had peace of mind every time a volunteer was
assisting my wife (while I was at work).
