The Outer Tubes, on the inside of Point Perpendicular, is renowned asone of the few places in the world where game fishing occurs from the shore, for marlinand kingfish. The collection of abalone is prohibited. A number of other species are handcollected for bait and food, including lobster, pipis, crabs, beachworms, yabbies, seacabbage and ribbon weed. Fishing competitions are conducted in the marine park andinclude both line and spearfishing events.While it was considered in the drafting of the initial zoning plan, for safety reasons accessto parts of Department of Defence land on Beecroft Peninsula and in the CommonwealthBooderee National <strong>Park</strong> have subsequently been closed.
