IntroductionIMPORTANT SAFEGUARDSImportant Safety Instructions1) Read these instructions.2) Keep these instructions.3) Heed all warnings.4) Follow all instructions.5) Do not use this appar<strong>at</strong>us near w<strong>at</strong>er.6) Clean only with dry cloth.7) Do not block any ventil<strong>at</strong>ion openings. Install inaccordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.8) Do not install near any he<strong>at</strong> sources such asradi<strong>at</strong>ors, he<strong>at</strong> registers, stoves, or other appar<strong>at</strong>us(including amplifiers) th<strong>at</strong> produce he<strong>at</strong>.9) Do not defe<strong>at</strong> the safety purpose of the polarizedor grounding type plug. A polarized plug has twoblades with one wider than the other. A grounding typeplug has two blades <strong>and</strong> a third grounding prong.The wide blade or the third prong Wide plugare provided for your safety. If theprovided plug does not fit into youroutlet, consult an electrician forreplacement of the obsolete outlet.10) Protect the power cord from beingwalked on or pinched, particularly <strong>at</strong>plugs, convenience receptacles, <strong>and</strong>the point where they exit from theappar<strong>at</strong>us.11) Only use <strong>at</strong>tachments/accessories specified by themanufacturer.12) Use only with the cart, st<strong>and</strong>, tripod,bracket, or table specified by themanufacturer, or sold with theappar<strong>at</strong>us. When a cart is used, usecaution when moving the cart/appar<strong>at</strong>uscombin<strong>at</strong>ion to avoid injury from tipover.13) Unplug this appar<strong>at</strong>us duringlightning storms or when unusedfor long periods of time.14) Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.Servicing is required when the appar<strong>at</strong>us has beendamaged in any way, such as power-supply cord or plugis damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects havefallen into the appar<strong>at</strong>us, the appar<strong>at</strong>us has beenexposed to rain or moisture, does not oper<strong>at</strong>e normally,or has been dropped.14a)CAUTION: If the TV is dropped <strong>and</strong> the cabinet orenclosure surface has been damaged or the TV doesnot oper<strong>at</strong>e normally, take the following precautions:• ALWAYS turn off the TV <strong>and</strong> unplug the power cordto avoid possible electric shock or fire.• To prevent personal injury, never h<strong>and</strong>le the damagedtelevision.• ALWAYS contact a service technician to inspect theTV any time it has been damaged or dropped.15) The appar<strong>at</strong>us shall not be exposed to dripping orsplashing <strong>and</strong> th<strong>at</strong> no objects filled with liquids, such asvases, shall be placed on the appar<strong>at</strong>us.4Install<strong>at</strong>ion, Care, <strong>and</strong> ServiceInstall<strong>at</strong>ionFollow these recommend<strong>at</strong>ions <strong>and</strong> precautions <strong>and</strong> heed allwarnings when installing your TV:16) Never modify this equipment. Changes or modific<strong>at</strong>ionsmay void: a) the warranty, <strong>and</strong> b) the user’s authority tooper<strong>at</strong>e this equipment under the rules of the FederalCommunic<strong>at</strong>ions Commission.17) DANGER: RISK OF SERIOUSPERSONAL INJURY, DEATH, OREQUIPMENT DAMAGE! Never place the TVon an unstable cart, st<strong>and</strong>, ortable. The TV may fall, causing seriouspersonal injury, de<strong>at</strong>h, or serious damage tothe TV.18) Never place items such as vases, aquariums, or c<strong>and</strong>leson top of the TV.19) Always place theSturdy tie (as short as possible)TV on the floor orClipa sturdy, level,Hooksstable surfaceth<strong>at</strong> can supportScrewthe weight of theunit. Use a sturdyTV side B<strong>and</strong> TV toptie between theTV’s rear hook <strong>and</strong> the rear wall, pillar, etc., to securethe TV. If you use a TV st<strong>and</strong>, fix the TV by using the<strong>at</strong>tached b<strong>and</strong>.20) Never expose the appar<strong>at</strong>us to dripping or splashingliquid or place items such as vases, aquariums, anyother item filled with liquid, or c<strong>and</strong>les on top of the TV.21) Never block or cover the slots oropenings in the TV cabinet back,bottom, <strong>and</strong> sides.Never place the TV:• on a bed, sofa, rug, or imilarsurface;• too close to drapes, curtains, or walls; or• in a confined space such as a bookcase, built-incabinet, or any other place with poor ventil<strong>at</strong>ion.The slots <strong>and</strong> openings are provided to protect the TVfrom overhe<strong>at</strong>ing <strong>and</strong> to help maintain reliable oper<strong>at</strong>ionof the TV. Leave a space of <strong>at</strong> least 4 inches around the TV.22) Always place the back of the television <strong>at</strong> least one (1)inch away from any vertical surface (such as a wall) toallow proper ventil<strong>at</strong>ion.23) Never allow anything to rest on or roll over the powercord, <strong>and</strong> never place the TV where the power cord issubject to wear or abuse.24) Never overload wall outlets <strong>and</strong> extension cords.25) Always oper<strong>at</strong>e the TV with a 120V AC, 60Hz powersource only.CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electric shock, do notuse the polarized plug with an extension cord, receptacle, orother outlet unless the blades can be inserted completelywith three-wire grounding type to prevent blade exposure.5X20601A(E)P02-10417/3/06, 12:23 PM
