Details of purposePlease describe your funding objective clearly and simply, avoiding technicallanguage in the space provided – including how you or your society/club wouldbenefit from an Opportunity Fund bursary (in no more than 250 words).Our funding objective is to raise the £4900 needed to fund the course to build the <strong>Wind</strong><strong>Turbine</strong> and connect the <strong>Turbine</strong> to the University electrical grid. Our income is from theSchool of Engineering, EWB UK budget, SU funding and the students attending the course.<strong>Without</strong> the Opportunity fund the course would cost £150 per person and is unobtainable formost Students. With the Opportunity Fund we will be able to offer the course at a much moreobtainable £80.EWB UK feels this project offers significant benefits to <strong>Warwick</strong> University, <strong>Warwick</strong>,Students and the environment. For the University of <strong>Warwick</strong>, the <strong>Wind</strong> <strong>Turbine</strong> will be thefirst homemade <strong>Wind</strong> turbine to be connected to the National grid, feat that has surprisinglynot been achieved yet. This would be a brilliant statement of <strong>Warwick</strong>’s sustainabilitycredentials. The course is open to any <strong>Warwick</strong> student, and aims to teach thoseparticipating the specifics of <strong>Wind</strong> <strong>Turbine</strong> manufacture, as well as inspiring those aboutalleviating climate change. The <strong>Wind</strong> turbine also offers the very real benefit of reducing theUniversity’s CO 2 emissions. The project is designed to coincide with Go Green Week and sowill act as a focal point to the green issues being raised. EWB UK benefits from the increasedprofile for the new society.The course is to be run by the leading homemade <strong>Wind</strong> <strong>Turbine</strong> makers V3 Powerwww.v3power.co.uk .5. Please indicate where and how you or your society/club wouldacknowledge and/or promote ‘Giving to <strong>Warwick</strong>’ – the schemewhich under donations were made to enable the OpportunityFund to exist.
