WHAT OURKeppel Shipyard LimitedADVOCATESSAYKeppel Shipyard Limited has a formal structurefor employee participation <strong>programme</strong> which is known as <strong>the</strong>Workforce <strong>Safety</strong> <strong>Council</strong> (WSC). It is a bottom-up initiativemade up of only employees at <strong>the</strong> workers’ level. Workersfrom various trades or sections are nominated by <strong>the</strong>ir fellowworkers to be <strong>the</strong>ir representatives in WSC for a two-year term.The Chairman <strong>and</strong> Secretary of <strong>the</strong> WSC are subsequentlyelected from <strong>the</strong> representatives by <strong>the</strong> workers through avoting system.The motto of WSC is “For <strong>the</strong> workers, by <strong>the</strong> workers”<strong>and</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir vision is “Create a safe <strong>and</strong> healthy workplace foreveryone”. Its main objective is to create a safe <strong>and</strong> healthyworkplace for all personnel in <strong>the</strong> shipyard by providinga platform for workers’ feedback, dissemination ofmanagement safety expectations, <strong>and</strong> encouragementof positive <strong>and</strong> safe work behavioursbetween workers.A Guide to <strong>the</strong> WSH Advocate Programme21
