Loctite ® Dispensing Equipment<br />
Henkel has a complete line of off-the-shelf equipment<br />
systems for dispensing Loctite® thread sealants. These<br />
manual and semiautomatic equipment systems are designed<br />
to reduce waste and operator contact.<br />
Loctite ® Dial-A-Seal ® Applicator is a touch-actuated, allpneumatic<br />
applicator for dispensing thread sealants onto<br />
threaded pipe fittings. The system has a quick turn turret<br />
that is equipped with cavities for 1 ⁄16, 1 ⁄8, 1 ⁄2, 3 ⁄8, 1 ⁄2, 3 ⁄4 and 1" male<br />
pipe threads. This applicator accepts 50 ml or 250 ml tubes<br />
or 1 liter wide-mouth bottles.<br />

Finding the right thread sealant for<br />
the application<br />
1. What are the benefits of using thread sealants?<br />
Thread sealants provide tight seals between joints, can<br />
withstand immense pressures, allow for easier assembly<br />
and disassembly, prevent corrosion, and prevent parts<br />
from “welding” to one another.<br />
2. Which sealants have potable water approvals?<br />
The following Loctite® thread sealants all have a NSF 61<br />
potable water approval rating: Loctite® QuickStix<br />
561 PST®, 55 Pipe Sealing Cord, 564, 565 PST®,<br />
and 567 PST®.<br />
3. What is galling?<br />
Galling occurs when metals weld together due to lack<br />
of or ineffective lubrication during assembly. Without<br />
proper lubrication, mating surfaces wear against each<br />
other and result in “welding” or seizure. Sealants<br />
containing PTFE increase lubricity, reduce galling, and<br />
enable easier assembly and disassembly.<br />
4. Are there any thread sealants available that are compatible<br />
with systems in oxygen rich environments?<br />
Loctite® Thread Seal Tape with PTFE is the only thread<br />
sealing product that is compatible with systems in<br />
oxygen rich environments.<br />
5. Why is the “squeeze out” material around the joint not cured?<br />
In order for anaerobic material to cure, there has to be<br />
two mating metal surfaces. Any excess material that<br />
squeezes from the assembly can simply be wiped away.<br />
