Vocational AgricultureDiagnostic:• Public sector vocational level education programs have all but disappeared <strong>from</strong> <strong>Haiti</strong> s<strong>in</strong>ce <strong>the</strong>1980s• There is no one M<strong>in</strong>istry that oversees technical and vocational education , caus<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> lack ofadvocacy and oversight ( and complex politics);• MARNDR still has statutory authority over <strong>the</strong> ‘Ecoles Moyennes’ with its Department deFormation por l’Entreprenariat Agricole (DFPEA)Policy Questions:• What policies will <strong>the</strong> new M<strong>in</strong>ister of Agriculture and his cab<strong>in</strong>et develop relative to vocationaltechnical education?• Will DFPEA cont<strong>in</strong>ue to oversee <strong>the</strong> ‘Ecoles Moyennes’?• What sources of f<strong>in</strong>anc<strong>in</strong>g will be available and how will <strong>the</strong> schools become self susta<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g?• How many vocational graduates can be absorbed <strong>in</strong>to <strong>the</strong> economy per year?Current Actions:• World Bank, USDA, IDB have done various jo<strong>in</strong>t assessments and strategic plann<strong>in</strong>gs with MARNDRwith <strong>the</strong> expection of <strong>in</strong>vest<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> Vocational Ag system
