Farmer field schools and ExtensionDiagnostic:• Until 1970: There was a large system of extension <strong>in</strong> place• Today, <strong>the</strong>re is no recognized extension system, but <strong>the</strong> CIP talks of Farmer Field Schools thatare still notional• The Public Sector (MARNDR) has lost <strong>the</strong> leadership (coord<strong>in</strong>ation, control of strategicmessages, tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g schedules, monitor<strong>in</strong>g of tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, etc) and it is now all done by variousNGOs <strong>in</strong> project• Each Department <strong>in</strong> <strong>Haiti</strong> has MARNDR offices with up to 5 Ing Agrs employed, primarily<strong>from</strong> FAMV; none purport to conduct extension or tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g; <strong>the</strong>y are not connected withheadquarters <strong>in</strong> PaPQuestions:• What is <strong>the</strong> role of MARNDR to be <strong>in</strong> Extension?
