PACESETTER 4D software includes a new component that "tracks" the barcode trajectory through time and space as an item moves through the scan zone, enabling multi-item scanning. Scans areconfirmed for cashiers by a unique audio feedback system. The ability to track each bar code means the NCR RealScan 7876SA no longer needs timers to prevent double reads. The removal of timers frees expert cashiers to move products freelythrough the scan zone in ways that are both efficient and comfortable.PACESETTER 4D software also enables the NCR RealScan 7876 SA to make decisions about poor quality labels. In meremilliseconds, it can decode misprinted, wrinkled or damaged bar codes. The NCR RealScan 7876 SA can also readmisprinted in-store labels such as those commonly found in the meat and deli departments. Called "Adaptive LabelReconstruction," this feature recognizes and reconstructs the hard to read label, and provides the terminal with accuratebar code information so that the checkout process is not delayed. Compared to the previousgeneration of NCR’s bi-optic scanner, the SA platformhas twice the data path, 4 times the clock speed, 3 timesthe executable memory and almost 8 times the programmemory. The SA platform provides the power for multiscanningtoday, and protects your investment byproviding enough processing power for future features.High-Performance ScanningNCR has made several technology improvements thatallow the NCR RealScan 7876 SA to offer the bestperformance available on the market. The NCR RealScan7876 SA features a bold 56-scan line scan patternprocessed through a Dual Channel Video system, whichreads every physical scan line in two different ways andallows the representation of 112 separate laser lines.Scanner speed is also dramatically increased, as 10,000RPM motors produce this pattern into space 167 timesevery second. This combination of high-speed motorsand exhaustive scan pattern produces a scan zone that canread 18,667 scan lines every second. This is 75% fasterthan our own NCR RealScan 7875 and nearly 3 times thatof our nearest competitor.Scan patterns now launch through larger windowsproducing a bigger scan zone through which productscan pass. This reduces the need for cashiers to orientproducts in a particular way, providing a much higherperformance scanning solution. With a larger scan zoneand many more scan lines, the NCR RealScan 7876 SAcan also read a bar code from any side, blanketingproducts with laser light to assure fast, accurate scanningwithout orientation.The NCR RealScan 7876 SAis also equipped to read RSSbar codes quickly and easilywith fine-line algorithms tocapture difficult-to-read barcode structures. Add-oncodes (magazines, greetingcards, and coupons) areeasily acquired by the dense scan pattern.
