ASIM / ARGESIM - Working Group Simulation News
ARGE SIMulation News (ARGESIM) is a non-profit working group
disseminating information on simulation, organising activities in the
area of modelling and simulation, publishing journals and books in
this area, and providing the infrastructure for the administration of EUROSIM and ASIM activities.
Formally ARGESIM is a working group within ASIM, the German Simulation Society,
which itself is part of GI – Gesellschaft für Informatik (German Society for Informatics).
ARGESIM operates at three levels:
• European and International Activities:
Journal SNE (editing and publishing; printing and WWW - publication),
ARGESIM Benchmarks on Simulation Technique and Simulation Software,
Publication of books (ARGESIM Reports) – as ARGESIM Publisher, Vienna
• Regional Activities Germany / Austria / Switzerland:
Administration for ASIM and for ASIM User Groups, ASIM WWW – Server, etc.
• Local Activities Vienna: Seminar Series SIMSEM Modelling and Simulation ,
about 10 seminars / year, simulation software support at TU Vienna.
EUROSIM – Federation of European Simulation Societies
EUROSIM, the Federation of European Simulation Societies, was set up in
1989. The purpose of EUROSIM is to provide a European forum for regional
and national simulation societies to promote the advancement of
modelling and simulation in industry, research, and development.
SNE – Simulation Notes Europe is the membership journal of EUROSIM. SNE is a scientific
journal with reviewed contributions in the Notes Section as well as a membership newsletter
for EUROSIM with information from the societies in the News Section. EUROSIM is
running the triennial conference series EUROSIM Congress. The congress is organised by
one of the EUROSIM societies. EUROSIM 2009 took place in Prague, organised by CSSS.
EUROSIM 2012 will be organized by UKSIM in September 2013 in Cardiff, UK.
The trademark EUROSIM Event is offered to societies and groups organising international
conferences on modelling and simulation (with benefits for members and organisers).
MATHMOD 2009 and MATHMOD 2012 are co-organised under this flag, making EU-
ROSIM a main co-sponsor. Information: → www.eurosim.org
SNE - Simulation Notes Europe
The journal SNE - Simulation Notes Europe, previously
Simulation News Europe – is intended
• to inform about developments in modelling and simulation by technical notes,
education notes, short notes, software notes and benchmarks, and
• to report about news from simulation societies and especially
about EUROSIM societies (membership journal).
SNE publishes technical notes and education notes (fully peer reviewed), short notes (peer
reviewed), and software notes on general overviews or new developments, on new software
and hardware, on new applications and methods, and book reviews on recent books in modelling
and simulation and in related areas.
