IASF Roma - STATUS REPORTfor the Visiting CommitteeRef: IASF-RM-VC-001/07DATA: 19 November 2007Page: 43/134Computing SystemsThe Institute computer facility is based on a diffuse computing capability ensured by ~250computers (includine Personal, Workstation and Server and Netwoek Server) all interconnectedto a local network at 100Mb/s with an external hubb with a speed of 2 Gb/s, both managed bythe centralised CNR service.Some of the servers (central computing, web, ftp, data archival) are available to all the Institutesclients includine staff members, guests, and scientists hosted by the dfferent research groups.Part of the Computing Facility is the INTEGRAL Computing Facility (CED) hosting the centralarchive composed by a cluster of 30 dedicated PCs and a storage cabability exceeding 50Terabytes, expandble up to 80 if necessary for the long lasting INTEGRAL Satellate, nowextended by ESA till 2012. All the data are provided by the INTEGRAL Science Data Centre(ISDC) in ECOGIA, Geveve, that is the central point for data acquisition, dissemination, storage,quick look and scientific analisys.Also for the AGILE satellite, placet in orbit the 23rd of April 2007, a similar system is underfinalisation. The AGILE computing facility added value is due to the use of a powerful GRIDfacility and the direct connection to the ASI-ASDC data CENTRE located at ESA-ESRIN,Frascati, a few Kilometers from IASF.IASF is partner, via the “Area di Ricerca di Roma Tor Vergata” to an European EconomicCommunity (CEE) dedicated project, co-shared by the Regione Lazio, with the target to testultra fast link.
