as at august 1, 2012 Page - 5ROWING - TRAININGWeekly Schedule/TrainingStudents are divided into Senior and Junior groupings for bothtraining and competition. Each group has at least 3 trainingsessions per week.Coxswains are very important members of the crews and mayoften cox more than one crew. Training is given to these studentsto understand race tactics and team strategy.During term time the students will have training sessions in thethe age group and may be before or after school and weekends.Weekday TrainingWinter Rowing Programme(starts Sunday 29th July 2012)Morning SessionsMorning Training Sessions typically begin at 6.00am for to leave and be back at school for ”boarder” breakfast at 8.15am Alist of non boarder students is provided to Mr Yeo to ensureadequate catering and students are required to sign the attendancesheet. Parent’s accounts will be charged $5.50 per continentalbreakfast.Afternoon Sessions - 3.30pm – 5pmSenior and Junior rowers train both on the water and in theGym. For Juniors Gym training concentrates upon endurance, exercises. necessary. KWS has good gym facilities and all gym sessions aresupervised by an experienced trainer.Additional non compulsory training during the summer breakmay be available.The sessions will be held on Sunday morning with the busapproximately 9am.Rowers who wish to take part in the following Sunday’ssession must contact Mr Holmes by email atrholmes@kws.nsw.edu.au by 8pm on the preceding Wednesday.Any member of the rowing team may take part in thesesessions, which will normally be aimed at the skill developmentin small boats.From the 6th August 2012 the rowing room will open atlunch times for machine use, primarily for beginners tofamiliarise themselves and try out the sort, but also forpreparation for the pre-season testing which will be carried outbefore the camp in October for all rowers.* Key Dates for this season are availablein appendix 1 of this handbook.Parents please note all transportation to the rowing shed isprovided by the school. Under no circumstances are parents todrive their child to Spring Creek.
