We had a change offormat for this event which saw the concert take place on the lawnoutside the performance theatre. The concert was held on the sameday as Prep Open Day and at the end of the prep activities weperformed as a massed choir with students from across the prep andhigh school singing ‘Banuwa’. It was wonderful to see so manystudents singing and making music together. All of the high schoolensembles performed with a very entertaining performance of ‘Carnivalof the animals’ presented by the orchestra. A massive thank you to theFriends of Music for running a BBQ for the event. They raised over $440which is being donated to the Bush Fire Appeal. They provide wonderfulsupport to our music performance program- thank you to the Friend ofMusic.Student Music Concert – Thursday 14 NovemberNext week we are holding the “Student Music Concert” in thePerformance Theatre at 5:30pm. While it has been traditionally calledthe “Elective Music Concert”, it really is for any student in the school toplay with their band, sing in a group or put together a musical item ofsome description. The idea of this concert is to allow students to gettogether in groups and have lots of fun performing music. As such, thisis not a venue for solo performance. The sign-up sheet is in the MusicCentre foyer and we encourage students from all over the school toperform.Grandparent’s DayOur Grandparent’s Day Concert was very special this year. Mrs Sinclair,Acting Co-ordinator of Prep Music, did a fabulous job of organizing theevent and the standard of her choirs was excellent. All the soloistsperformed in such a professional manner. Bob HolmesMIC RowingWater Polo ReportsWednesday's GameOn Wednesday night a squad of thirteen hopefuls travelled to Sydney inpreparation for the AICES water polo trials the following day. Held at theSydney Aquatic Centre in Homebush, the students played a series ofgames against Saint Luke’s Grammar School, Pittwater House andBarbarians team comprising of individual students from a range ofschools in Sydney. Against tough competition the girls’ team wasunable to defend their 2012 title, suffering a series of defeats. Despitethis, Edwina Kennelly and Sophie Hay-McKenzie were selected for CIStrials later this year, while Olivia Archer was named in the shadowteam. Matthew Yeo was also named as a shadow player for the CISboys’ team. The squad that travelled down for the meet included: Eddie Kennelly,Sophie Hay-McKenzie, Olivia Archer, Chloe Smith, Merran Todd,Rachelle Stubberfield, Katie Rice, Olivia Kennedy, Salina Lennon, NickiCollins, Georgia McKenzie, Matt Yeo and Asher Dixon. All the studentsplayed with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship and had a wonderfultime.Saturday's GameWith so much charity activity this weekend, each of the eight teams setto play on Saturday did well to organise themselves around variousother commitments. As always, the students were eager to play. Theirenthusiasm for the sport has helped develop their skill and fitness inonly a few short weeks. Each goal that was scored in the four gamesspurred the players on to greater efforts in friendly rivalry. One of theimportant things for all players in all teams to remember is the restartsand offensive and defensive positioning. Mr Walters particularly focusedon this, while standing in the pool drew numerous fouls across allgames. Moving forward in the season the students are having fun andshowing genuine sportsmanship in their approach to training and thevarious games.Adam ThompsonWAS Tennis ReportKWS1 Vs SSC 2 and KWS2 Vs ASCRound 4, 2nd November 2013KWS 1 Junior Vs SSC 2 Won - Sets: 6-0 Games 43-5KWS 1 Intermediate Vs SSC 2 Won - Sets 6-0 Games 39-9KWS 1 Senior Vs SSC 2 Won - Sets 5-1 Games 35-13KWS 2 Junior Vs ASC Won - Sets 3.5-2.5 Games 29-19KWS 2 Intermediate Vs ASC Won - Sets 6-0 Games 38-10
