Concert, Grandparent s Day, Combined Schools Music Festival,Concerto Competition.KWS Celebrates Music - What a fantastic day!A huge thank you and congratulations to all of the staff and studentsinvolved in our celebration concert on Saturday. We had a change offormat for this event which saw the concert take place on the lawnoutside the performance theatre. The concert was held on the sameday as Prep Open Day and at the end of the prep activities weperformed as a massed choir with students from across the prep andhigh school singing ‘Banuwa’. It was wonderful to see so manystudents singing and making music together. All of the high schoolensembles performed with a very entertaining performance of ‘Carnivalof the animals’ presented by the orchestra. A massive thank you to theFriends of Music for running a BBQ for the event. They raised over $440which is being donated to the Bush Fire Appeal. They provide wonderfulsupport to our music performance program- thank you to the Friend ofMusic.Student Music Concert – Thursday 14 NovemberNext week we are holding the “Student Music Concert” in thePerformance Theatre at 5:30pm. While it has been traditionally calledthe “Elective Music Concert”, it really is for any student in the school toplay with their band, sing in a group or put together a musical item ofsome description. The idea of this concert is to allow students to gettogether in groups and have lots of fun performing music. As such, thisis not a venue for solo performance. The sign-up sheet is in the MusicCentre foyer and we encourage students from all over the school toperform.Grandparent’s DayOur Grandparent’s Day Concert was very special this year. Mrs Sinclair,Acting Co-ordinator of Prep Music, did a fabulous job of organizing theevent and the standard of her choirs was excellent. All the soloistsperformed in such a professional manner. Again, thank you to all theMusic Staff involved for your dedication and commitment.Combined Schools Music FestivalStudents who are currently in years 10 and 11 are invited to attend theBiennial Combined Schools Music Festival which next year will behosted by St Johns Anglican College in Brisbane in May. Please comeand see Ms Anthony this week if you would some information aboutattending.Concerto CompetitionApplication forms are now available for the 2014 concerto competition.Please come and see Ms Anthony in the Music department if you wouldlike a form.Have a wonderful week!Heidi Anthony
