Introduction• Nature <strong>of</strong> Injury/Disease <strong>Classification</strong>;• Bodily Location <strong>of</strong> Injury/Disease <strong>Classification</strong>;• Mechanism <strong>of</strong> Incident <strong>Classification</strong>; and• Agency <strong>Classification</strong>.Each classification includes a summary <strong>of</strong> the classification and a detailed listing thatincorporates inclusions and exclusions for many <strong>of</strong> the codes. For the Nature, BodilyLocation and Agency classifications, a detailed alphabetical index is included.Not all reported cases <strong>of</strong> injury or disease will involve straightforward coding. In instanceswhere there is some uncertainty as to the most appropriate code to assign, advice should besought either by telephone (02) 6279 1052, in writing to NOHSC, Statistics and CPM SupportTeam, GPO Box 1577, CANBERRA ACT 2601,or via email to statistics@nohsc.gov.au. Theinquiry should include all details <strong>of</strong> the circumstances surrounding the case so that allinformation necessary to make a decision is available. A direct notification <strong>of</strong> a decision willbe sent to the enquirer, along with the decision being placed on the TOOCS DecisionRegister which can be found at the following link,www.nohsc.gov.au/Statistics/ndstoocscis.htmUpdates to the <strong>Type</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Occurrence</strong> <strong>Classification</strong> <strong>System</strong> will be produced when it isconsidered that there are sufficient additions to the coding guidelines and alphabeticalindexes to warrant an update.
