Remove the old cotter pin, washer, releasehandle, and spring and discard. FIGURE 2LONG LOOPLOOPRETAINERSHORT LOOP2. Install the new spring on thenew handle. To do this, start byinserting the long loop end ofthe spring on the handle, asshown in Figure 2.3. Slide the spring along thehandle towards the loop retainer(see Figure 3). Rotate the spring onthe handle so that the springloop opening is aligned withthe loop retainer (see Figure 4).Align the end of the spring loopwith the loop retainer opening(see Figure 5). Rotate the springto engage the spring end in theloop retainer (see Figure 6).4. Now, slide the bent end of therelease handle down throughthe hole in the end of the releasearm (see Figure 8).6. Place a new washer over the endof the release handle and securewith the new cotter pin (Figure 8).FIGURE 7RELEASE HANDLE(CROSS CUT)7. IMPORTANT! When completingthe replacement procedures,check the operation of the fifthwheel by locking and unlockingthe fifth wheel at least threetimes, using a Holland LockTester (part number TF-TLN-5001).
