Arts and SciencesDr. Brian BielenbergProgram Director<strong>The</strong> Arts and Sciences Program is designed to offer studentsa high quality education which broadens and supportsintellectual and practical development. Studentstake courses in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics thatexplore basic concepts and examine how they relate toengineering practice. In addition, they experience coursesin Communications, Islamic Studies, Health and Fitness,and Economics.<strong>The</strong>re are also opportunities for electivecourses such as German, leadership, and political sciencethat further broaden a student’s studies beyond scienceand technology. In Arts and Sciences, today’s graduateswere first exposed to what it means to be an engineer andhow to “do” engineering. This occurred through participationin an Engineering Seminar and the STEPS (Strategiesfor Team-based Engineering Problem Solving) cornerstonedesign courses.
