Test Week, known previouslyas Army T&E Days (Test and EvaluationDays), attracts an audience of industryand government workers, many from theHuntsville area, who gather to hear updateson test policies, and to share information.Held at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville,the <strong>2005</strong> event was sponsored by the DefenseTest Resource Management Center(DTRMC) and was diversified to incorporatethe Air Force, Navy and the Office of theSecretary of Defense (OSD). The event wasa convenient opportunity for ACUTRONICto interface with our customers in the Huntsvillearea, especially those who were alsoexhibiting at the event. ]For the sixth consecutive year, ACUTRONICexhibited at the Defense & Security Symposiumheld in Orlando, Florida duringthe week of March 28 th . Over 5,400 personnelattended, 333 companies exhibited andhundreds of technical papers were presented.ACUTRONIC attended the symposiumas an exhibitor and also as a technicalsession presenter. The technical sessiontitled “Technologies for Synthetic Environments:Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL)Testing” addressed smart weapons testingwith emphasis on the integration of new testtechnologies available for ground basedsimulation.Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) simulationfacilities play a vital role in weaponprogram development by reducing riskleading up to flight tests. Michael Swamp,President, ACUTRONIC USA Inc. presenteda paper titled “HWIL Testing of SmartWeapon Systems”. This paper summarizedthe importance of HWIL testing duringthe development phases of a smart weaponsystem and highlighted the uniquedesign challenges recently satisfied byACUTRONIC. Test results of the flight motionsimulator developed by ACUTRONICwere discussed during the technical presentation.]

Connor and Blainehave a combined 37 years of experience assimulator engineers with US Airways. Theexperience of these gentlemen has alreadyextensively been put to use at ACUTRONICwhere both have been heavily involvedin the production of our state-of-the-artcontroller, the ACUTROL3000 © . In addition,Connor and Blaine have each already madeseveral trips to customers to assist in newsystem installations, system refurbishments,and maintenance and repair services.Engineering TechniciansBlaine Sarver, Connor FoxNew Accounting ProfessionalACUTRONIC welcomes Kim Pidhirny whojoins us as a senior accountant. As the service activitiesbecome more and more important, thestaffing of this young team is also standingin the spotlight. 08PinboardACUTRONIC Switzerland’snew Showroom Robin Hauser, ACUTRONIC SwitzerlandA comfortable environment for training and demonstration:the new Showroom.As of June of this year ACUTRONICSwitzerland could inaugurate a new Showand Training room. On entering, the focus isimmediately drawn to a new AC2267 Two-Axis Table and control cabinet. The controlcabinet is equipped with an ACUTROL3000and an ACUTROL2000, which both can beused to control the table.To complement this seminar- anddemo room, a Cascade-controller with aOne-Axis Table is foreseen to be installed.With this room, ACUTRONIC Switzerlandnow has a great facility for customertraining which can include ACUTROL trainingas well as training on the various testShowroom Bubikon, Switzerlandprocedures or table components. Hollinger, PittsburghStudents from California University of Pennsylvania (CUP)visited ACUTRONIC USA.On April 29 th , ACUTRONIC USA hosted avisit from the Control System Design classof California University of Pennsylvania(located 32 miles south of Pittsburgh). TheControl System Design class is for seniorlevel electrical engineering students. Dur-Our visitors from CUPing the visit, the group of 15 students andtheir Professor enjoyed a talk by LouDeMore about the work that ACUTRONICdoes. They went on a tour of the plant andsaw the various steps that go into producingour systems. The group saw demonstrationsof complete systems and HowardHavlicsek gave an extensive demonstrationof the ACUTROL3000 controller. Afterthe tour, we all enjoyed a pizza lunch togetherand Howard gave the students apresentation on the control theory behindthe ACUTROL3000. At the conclusion ofthe visit, the students were presented withsmall mementos of their trip to ACUTRONICand were encouraged to submit their resumesto us.
