NZTA have been advised by WDC that theywill need to build it by 2019 if it is not completed prior.• Newell Road/Devine Road Intersection Realignment takes speed down to 50km.• Funding for project is from Development Contributions and NZTA, however the committeehave requested to see exactly how the funding is taking place.• Concern raised from committee about building the car parks on Link Road before any sportsfields are developed. WDC stated it was much more economical to do so now rather thanlater.• The committee would like to see some exotic trees included as we see them as a key featureof Tamahere.Action:Tim Harty to provide the committee with funding figures and multi partyagreements.Tim Harty to send through overall Tamahere Village/Recreational area plan so wecan see the overlay across the roading design.Newell Road• No development contributions are being used for the refurbishment work currently takingplace.• Not going ahead with Newell Road part of refurbishment outside of Birchwood Lane untilsuch time as a roundabout is required, however any potholes will be fixed.• A temporary footpath will be put in place through the area mentioned above and WDC willcome back to the committee next month with a plan.• The contractors need to put water on the road to stop the dust over the weekend.Tim Harty ReportRoad Names for Tamahere Area• WDC would like the committee to provide ideas for new road names.• Suggested this be circulated through the Forum to gain ideas from the community.

Te Awa Walkway• Struggling to get the walkway through Hamilton and Peacockes so need come through thisside of the river and would like to link in with the off road walkways and cycleways plannedfor in Tamahere.• A meeting will be held between Te Awa, WDC, HCC, and One Network to facilitate how theconnections can be made maximising the local infrastructure and development.Reserve Management Plan• Management Plan scheduled to start next financial year (2014/15).Tamahere Reserve Report by Leo Koppens• It has been a month of extreme disappointment with the planned logging of the pine treesbeing put off due to the presence of Bats. The Trust does not want to hurt let alone kill anyBats. It is well known that there are Bats in here. We have seen them. From our own surveysthere is a 50/50 chance of seeing them at dusk flying in the open space up and downthe stream. The most we have seen is 3 at a time. What no one to date will say is howmany Bats actually live here. No one can say that Bats will not move to another tree if disturbedby the likes of chainsaws. We are unsure if this is a postponement or a cancellationof the logging.• The consultants do not recommend logging at present. Some at Council are indicating thatthere will be no logging. What all this means will become clear on the 15 th Nov meeting withCouncil ,DOC, the consultants and ourselves. This will test the very foundations of theTrusts will to carry on with this project. We cannot see how Council can dodge its responsibilitiesfor health and safety by leaving the trees within falling distance of Tauwhare Rdstanding. DOC has said that these trees are not subject to restrictions due to Bat protocols.• Work in the Reserve has progressed nicely with planting finished and a new area cleared ofdead willows. Council’s re‐spraying of the wandering jew has been very successful.• More willows will be poisoned in the coming months. Most of the gorse in the pines hasbeen cut down or sprayed. Next will be the pampas grass. It is our aim that all gorse, privet, honeysuckle, blackberry and wandering jew be eliminated from the whole Reserve.Possum kills to date are 62.• Work in the coming months will focus on releasing the new plants from weeds.Leo KoppensTitoki Liaison Group Report• Margaret Glassey has identified and satisfactorily dealt with all the issues raised by ArnoldKoppens on behalf of the committee.Any Other Business• Election of new Community Committee 18 Nov notice of this to be in the Forum, school &church news‐letters and the news media to inform the community of this meeting.Public Meeting on Monday 18 th November 7.30pmMeeting Closed:9pmDate of next meeting: 2 nd December 2013
