Advanced LTE-Modem Design with Interference CancellationModern Trends in communication systems necessitate higher data rates and increasedreliability. 4th Generation wireless systems & protocols are targeting to achieve theseobjectives by more aggressive use of spectrum which leads to interference-limitedscenarios. Effective mitigation of these interferences is necessary to achieve theobjectives of high spectral efficiency. Interference Mitigation is the currently the focus ofattention of both academia and industry. This project will look at interference mitigationthrough advanced receiver structure. This project shall develop two transmitters (Txs) and a receiver (Rx) where thetransmitters will be single antennas while receiver will be equipped with multipleantennas (possibly two or more). The system will be quasi compliant with 4G wirelesssystem (3GPP LTE - Third generation partnership project long term evolution), i.e., it willbased on the key features of Physical layer of LTE, i.e. bit interleaved coded modulation(BICM) orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) based transmission system.Tx-1and Rx will form a transmitter-receiver pair whereas the signal of Tx-2 will beinterference for this pair. Standard transmitters will be built whereas for the receiver, advanced detection algorithms in the form of interference-aware receivers will beimplemented. Passband processing will be performed on Matlab and USRP.Syndicate Members: NC NaimatullahNC Muhammad HarisGC Asad Amir KhanSupervisor:Lt. Col.
