The Northern New EnglanderNew Faces at SSTARRita Chapdelaine, graduated from UMass Dartmouth in 2008 with a B.A. in Sociology. She iscurrently pursuing an MSW at Boston University. She is particularly looking forward to increasing her knowledge andproficiency with substance use disorders and their treatment, expanding and refining her research skills, and immersingherself in the NIDA Clinical Trials Network.CTN Research in the NewsMain outcome findings from the NIDA CTN-0010 study examining treatments for opioid-addicted adolescentswere summarized in the recent issue of NIDA Notes [Vol. 23 (1), pages. 8-9]. The aim of the studywas to determine if a 12-week course of outpatient buprenorphine/naloxone (Bup/Nal) plus psychosocialtreatment resulted in fewer opioid positive urine tests at 3 monthly evaluation points among opioid dependentadolescents and young adults (ages 14-21) than the usual treatment, which was detoxification plus psychosocialtreatment alone. Mercy Hospital Recovery Center (Westbrook, ME) was a participating CommunityTreatment Program in the CTN-0010 study from the Northern New England Node.
