Tuesday at the residence of Jas T Duncan, southeast, by J W Crane, Mr J P Short of Dodgeville,Wiscons<strong>in</strong>, and Mrs Orphia Groom were married. She is a sister to Mrs James Duncan; he is acarpenter and a contractor of Dodgeville where they will make their home.Gertie Bell, daughter of Mr and Mrs Samuel Bell of Elw<strong>in</strong> died at the home of her parents ofdiphtheria on the 9th of Dec <strong>1886</strong>, aged 3 years and 8 months. The funeral took place fiom theMacon M E Church on Friday. The child was a niece of Mrs Norman Miller of this place. Twohours before she died, she called her little sister and gave her all her playth<strong>in</strong>gs. She then calledall the family to her, one by one, and bade them good-bye. She then clapped her little handstogether, and laughed, and said, 'I am go<strong>in</strong>g home' and thus she passed <strong>in</strong>to the arms of herMaster.Married at the residence of Mike Workman, west, on last Wednesday morn<strong>in</strong>g, Miss LucyBilyeu and John R Miller. Ceremony performed by Elder J D Morgan of Od<strong>in</strong>. Rev J HGreen of the M E Church officiated. They will reside <strong>in</strong> Beloit, Kansas. She is the daughter of NM H<strong>in</strong>man.Joseph Peck, cous<strong>in</strong> of John Peel, n<strong>in</strong>e miles west, died on Monday of lung fever. Funeral wasconducted from the family residence, bur <strong>in</strong> Ston<strong>in</strong>gton Cemetery.Mrs 0 Brown of Assumption died last Friday; hneral services were conducted fiom the CatholicChurch on Sunday.Mrs Frank Hempel is conf<strong>in</strong>ed to her bed by illness.
