20 reported a Sm-Nd age of 2085±85 Ma from the komatiites. The present mineral compositions of the least altered komatiites are serpentine-chloritetremolite-antophyllite and tremolite-antophyllite resulting from regional upper-greenschist facies metamorphism (Hulkki 1990, Korkiakoski 1992). The intensely altered rocks form a subvertically dipping alteration domain about 100 m x 500 m in horizontal extent (Fig. 5), comprised of two heterogeneous and in- Fig. 4. The ore and the intensely altered rocks are within a discontinuous, about 8 km long, generally E-W trending “skarn” zone characterised by the mineral assemblage chlorite-calcite-talc-tremolite ± albite (Hulkki 1990, K. Niiranen, pers. comm. 1998).
