Many staff are currently TA’s in special schools, with relevanttraining <strong>and</strong> checks.ActivitiesA Saturday club for children between the ages of 5 <strong>and</strong> 13 on the autism spectrum which includes activities such asart, cookery, soft play, multisensory <strong>and</strong> outdoor play.Time <strong>and</strong> location: on the second <strong>and</strong> fourth Sat. of the month, from 10.30 – 3pm, at Hazel Court School, LarkspurDrive, Eastbourne.A youth group for young people between the ages of 13 <strong>and</strong> 19 with a diagnosis of Aspergers or high functioningautism which includes activities such as cookery, art, WII, table tennis, outdoor games <strong>and</strong> board games.Time <strong>and</strong> location: on the first <strong>and</strong> third Sat. of the month, from 10 – 2pm, at the Eastbourne Academy, BrodrickRoad, Eastbourne.Outings swimming, bowling <strong>and</strong> to other local places such as Knockhatch.Coffee mornings termly for parents as an opportunity to share advice <strong>and</strong> offer support. Sometimes speakersattend.Social events for parents such as meals out. Quarterly newsletters.CostsA one off £10 joining fee in order to access services. £24 pounds for a whole day <strong>and</strong> £12 for a half day. Siblingsmay attend <strong>and</strong> are half price. Outings are generally free as long as we can get funding.At the clubs we provide free drinks <strong>and</strong> snacks for all the children <strong>and</strong> cater for specialised diets such as gluten <strong>and</strong>dairy free.Referral Process: Self - referral . The team sit within thehealth visiting <strong>and</strong> school nursing teams.Typical problems that can be helped:Sleep problems Behaviour problems Temper tantrumsBereavement Anxiety or fear Anger, mood swingsLow self-esteem Constipation <strong>and</strong> Soiling Relationship difficultiesDealing with a traumaticeventComing to terms with illnessDistress because of familybreakdownEating issues which do notwarrant a Specialist <strong>CAMHS</strong>referralFamily <strong>and</strong>/or individual work with children or young people is offered, to help them underst<strong>and</strong> their feelings <strong>and</strong>learn to deal with them safely.Practical strategies can be offered to support parents/carers in managing their child’s behaviour more effectively.Families, children <strong>and</strong> young people can be seen in a venue of their choice.Referral Criteria: the child/young person has a persistent emotional/behavioural issueThe issue has already had tier one interventionThe issue can be helped through short-term focused work (up to 12 sessions)The family <strong>and</strong> young person are willing to engage in supportReferral Process: referrals accepted on a Family Support Health Team form only from the child’s health visitor,school nurse, or SENCO/Inclusion Manager/Pastoral Deputy Head.
