The service is available to women (minimum age 16, no upper limit) <strong>and</strong> their children (both genders, upto 18yrs). We may accept ex-offenders <strong>and</strong> women previously evicted from refuge accommodation. We may alsooffer services for women with mental health or drug/alcohol dependency support needs, including women on amethadone programme. Women with no recourse to public funds may be accepted depending on funding. We arebased in five confidential locations in Eastbourne, Hastings, <strong>Lewes</strong>, Rother, <strong>and</strong> Wealden districts.We offer safe short-term accommodation, with key worker support during office hours. Advocacy, information <strong>and</strong>support regarding domestic violence issues, including risk assessment, safety planning, housing advice, benefitsadvice, help with budgeting, life <strong>and</strong> parenting skills support, practical help <strong>and</strong> legal support. We have 2-3 workersat each refuge <strong>and</strong> staff are on site on weekdays. Overnight <strong>and</strong> weekend staff are on-call for emergencies <strong>and</strong>referrals. Rental Charges (variable dependant on which refuge); mostly eligible for Housing Benefit; small ineligibleweekly personal charge – discussed at point of referral.*Staff email a number of agencies when vacancies are available at the refuges. Our services aim to work closely with families in a transparent <strong>and</strong> collaborative partnership <strong>and</strong> is availableMonday to Friday, 8.30 – 5pm both in schools <strong>and</strong> homes. The service is staffed by School Nurses are qualifiednurses with at least 2 years practice experience who undertake extra training to become a school nurse, healthvisiting staff nurses, qualified Nursery Nurses & Support Workers/Health Care Worker who has undertaken trainingin specific areas <strong>and</strong> is supervised by a qualified nurse.
