The declaratory and contracting words must be said by the couple inboth their own language and English and the interpreter should sign the marriageregister as a witness.3.18 If either of the couple have a speech or hearing impediment, they should bringalong an interpreter or you may wish to write out the declaratory and contractingwords <strong>for</strong> them to sign; it is your responsibility to ensure that you are content thatthe legal requirements have been fulfilled.10
