The <strong>Park</strong> <strong>Ridge</strong> <strong>Park</strong> District<br />
provides leisure opportunities<br />
and recreational activities to<br />
promote health and wellness and<br />
to ensure recreational and leisure<br />
choices are plenty. It’s not a place,<br />
but a lifestyle for individuals and<br />
families to spend some time with<br />
each other and meet friends. Each<br />
season the district offers hundreds<br />
of classes, special events and<br />
program series from the young<br />
child to seniors. The district mails<br />
four seasonal program brochures<br />
during the year to each household<br />
in <strong>Park</strong> <strong>Ridge</strong>.<br />
The district eeb site functions as a<br />
technology and marketing tool so<br />
residents can search and register<br />
online for programs, and special<br />
events and see our many facility<br />
amenities 24 hours a day.<br />
Three outdoor pools at these<br />
parks: Centennial <strong>Park</strong>, Hinkley<br />
<strong>Park</strong> and South <strong>Park</strong> compliment<br />
the surrounding park system the<br />
district maintains, that’s about 126<br />
acres total.<br />
Summertime fun is abundant at<br />
these pools with swim lessons,<br />
camps and the simple pleasure of<br />
relaxing on a hot summer day.<br />
The <strong>Community</strong> Center features<br />
a fully equipped fitness room, lap<br />
and leisure pool, sauna, elevated<br />
indoor walking track, racquetball<br />
courts, full gym and fitness<br />
classrooms. Personal trainers are<br />
available to give you guidance<br />
with your fitness needs.<br />
Oakton Sports Complex is the<br />
largest parcel of land dedicated to<br />
parks and recreation. The Ice Arena<br />
is home to world-class instructors<br />
that concentrate on teaching the<br />
lifelong sport of skating. Staff<br />
includes Olympians, national<br />
champions and support staff who<br />
make the experience memorable.<br />

Recreation<br />
Leisure skating, learn-to-skate<br />
and hockey classes are available<br />
year-round. Oakton Sports<br />
Complex supports a golf driving<br />
range and putting green. The<br />
range offers individual and group<br />
instruction and a full-service golf<br />
repair station. Patrons can take<br />
advantage of free seminars, club<br />
demos, putting green practice and<br />
pro shop. Paws <strong>Park</strong> Dog <strong>Park</strong> is<br />
open space fun for dogs and their<br />
owners.<br />
A variety of learning opportunities<br />
are offered through creative<br />
planning by outstanding staff<br />
at the <strong>Park</strong> District’s Preschool<br />
Program. This quality program<br />
offer 2-, 3- and 4-year old children a<br />
safe and nurturing environment. A<br />
structured curriculum emphasizes<br />
socialization and self expression<br />
through music, arts/crafts,<br />
stories, fine/large motor skills and<br />
numerous hands-on activities. The<br />
Preschool Program is certified by<br />
the Illinois Department of Children<br />
and Family Services.<br />
The Senior Center is owned and<br />
operated by the District and<br />
serves residents of <strong>Park</strong> <strong>Ridge</strong> 55<br />
years and older. Non-residents are<br />
also welcome to join and should<br />
contact the Senior Center for rate<br />
information. The Senior Center<br />
offers hundreds of programs and<br />
is open seven days a week.<br />
Wildwood Nature Center provides<br />
a quiet, natural setting for<br />
exploration and relaxation. Our<br />
prairie is a haven for migratory<br />
birds and is a Certified Bird and<br />
Butterfly Sanctuary by the Illinois<br />
Audubon Society. You will find a<br />
peaceful respite for walkers and<br />
a perfect place to fish. Wildwood<br />
Nature Center is home to nature<br />
classes, natural habitat animals<br />
and special events such as Earth<br />
Day.<br />
