“Night of Stars” Dinner

A little glitter and a lot of glow lent the Chamber’s
annual “Night of Stars” a glamorous ambience
on January 22. Nearly 200 VIP guests mingled,
networked, bid on an exciting array of silent
auction prizes and enjoyed hors d’oeuvres, drinks
and dinner at the Park Ridge Country Club, which
shimmered in candlelight and the Chamber’s
signature sapphire blue and silver.
A genial Mayor Dave Schmidt installed the 2011
officers and board and popular 2010 president

Dave Donovan presented the gavel to new
president Jackie Mathews of Rainbow Hospice.
Millie O’Brien flew in from Florida to accept the
Chamber’s first Lifetime Achievement Award,
and Community Star Awards were presented to
standing applause. Honored were Debi Spellman
and Diane Annes, Amphora; Elementary Learning
Foundation (ELF) of District 64; Betsy Foxwell,
Kalo Foundation of Park Ridge; Andrew Terenzio,
Maine South student and athlete; Barbara
Tyksinski, All on the Road Catering & Bakery;
Mike McGrath, Public Works at the City of Park
Ridge; and Jim Bruno, Park Ridge Indian Scouts.
Winners were honored for ongoing contributions
to critically important local charities and
education, work to facilitate community events,
volunteer efforts to keep treasured traditions
such as the Ianelli art studio and holiday lights in
Uptown, and more.
Chamber Executive Director Gail Haller thanked
sponsors A Sterling Design, Advocate Lutheran
General, Barton & Barton, David Donovan,
Dempsey Design, Harris Bank, Jackie Mathews,
Jewel Foods, Kiko’s Flowers, Quinn Print, and
Resurrection Health Care as well as her staff
and volunteers, including Maine South students
Grace Householder and Lydia Ramsey who
played viola during cocktails. Said Haller, “In
ways large and small, the generosity and talent
of our community simply lit up the night!”
