possible. We will also need the notarized copies by air cargo to: IICS, attn: Ms. Pınar Demirkan,
Karaağaç Mah, G-72 sokak 1/1 , Büyükçekmece, Istanbul 34866, Turkey.
After we receive your notarized copies of the documents, we will send them to a Turkish notary for
Turkish translation and notarization of the Turkish copies. Then all the documents will be sent to the
Ministry of Education in Ankara, Turkey. Getting the preliminary work permit will take 15 days.
3.1.2 APPLYING FOR THE WORK VISA
After the school receives the Preliminary Work Permit from the Ministry of Education, an application
is made to the Ministry of Labor in Ankara, Turkey and you will have to apply to the Turkish
Consulate in your country. Personal application is mandatory. This is the most complicated process
and takes the longest time, so every step should be taken very carefully.
The first step in applying for a work visa will be your application to the Turkish Consulate. The
application documents required by the Turkish Consulate will be sent to your mailing address by IICS
via DHL. In addition to these documents, you should fill out a visa application form at the Turkish
Consulate and provide passport sized photos.
It is very important for you to be on time if we ask you to send any other document other than the
above with reference to a specific request by the Consulate. Please do not forget to bring passport
sized photos to the Consulate.
The second step will be the application to the Ministry of Labor in Ankara. This will be done by IICS
within 10 days of your application to the Turkish Consulate, so promptness is very important in this
step. Also communication is very important. You have to inform Pınar Demirkan on the SAME DAY
of your application to the Consulate. If this 10 day period is missed, then you will have to apply AGAIN to
the Consulate.
You can apply to the Turkish Consulate in your country of residence (i.e. the country in which you
are currently living). Most probably you will be living in this country till July or August so we always
prefer the Turkish Consulate in your country of residence. Alternatively, you can apply to the
Turkish Consulate in your home country (i.e. your country of nationality/the country of nationality
listed in your passport).
If you are working in a country other than your nationality country (e.g you are French but working
in Australia) then of course it is better to apply to the Turkish Consulate in Australia. In this case
France is your country of nationality and Australia is your country of residence.
The Ministry of Labor will review your application (this will take approximately 2-3 months, but it
may take longer) then they will give the authorization to the Turkish Consulate to give your work
visa. As this process will take at least 2 -3 months, we have to begin as soon as possible. First, you
have to apply, and then after 2-3 months you have to apply AGAIN personally in order to get your
Work Visa. If you will leave this country of residence in July, we will have to complete this process before July.
This means that we have to make the first application by the beginning April, latest.
