The whole of the farm sequence, including the discovery of the body, was shot that<br />

day. On the following day the cast and crew travelled to Wellington to film the<br />

embarkation and Cook Strait ferry sequences. (The scripted transition – a dissolve<br />

from the ferry tickets in David’s hands to the hands of the uniformed ticket collector<br />

on the ferry gangway was realised effectively.) Always alert for ways both to keep<br />

costs down and to maximise local colour, O’Shea used a real ticket collector. He had<br />

the crew firstly film the official with the tickets in his hand, and then shoot the Ford,
