WednesdaySitting in my window I stare.The trees dance with the windAnd the bugs fly past my face,Dodging my hand as I swat at them.People walk by continuing with their dayAs I observe with intense eyes,Unaware of being watched,Their backs now vague in description.Music is playing from the radio.“I’m a movement by myself”‘Gosh not this song again’ I thinkSo I cut it off and put on my iPod.I stand in front of the mirrorLook myself up and down a couple timesThen the beat in the song captures meAnd my body rocks to the music.I look at the clock and it’s only three,Now I have nothing to do.I end up sleeping until dinner.Boy, how I love my Wednesdays.English Journal 8 (January 2008) 39
