It is essential that allthese incidents be reported immediately, as treatment may need to be initiatedwithin 2 hours of the incident.For all Occupational Exposures at Fitzroy campus, page 777, 24 hours a day 7days a week. The Occupational Exposure Coordinator will come to you andmanage the incident. Please remember to complete the details of the incidentin Riskman found on the intranet and also in your university’s incident form.PATIENT OR VISITOR ADVERSE EVENTS(INCIDENT REPORT)If you witness or are informed of an adverse event involving a patient or visitorit is your responsibility to alert your allocated buddy/preceptor or Nurse inCharge. An allocated staff member will fill out an adverse events form.For all incidents involving a student a University incident report needs to becompleted in addition to a hospital incident report.STUDENT LOGONWhilst undertaking clinical placement within St. Vincent’s Hospital Melbourneyou will have access to the computer system by way of the Student Logon. Thismay be accessed from any computer workstation on the campus. To logon youmust use:network login: nursenetwork p/word: passwordThis will open the system into the SVHM Guest Logon format. You can use thislogon to access the St. Vincent’s Hospital Intranet. The intranet icon is a smallSt. Vincent’s crest located on the left hand side of the screen. From this intranetpage there is access to the internal phone directory, the policy and proceduremanuals, and MIMS online via the Clinicians Health Channel, along with manyother features including a direct link to the Graduate Nurse Recruitment webpage. Under this logon you may also access internal paging and a list of thecurrent on site Library Catalog.16
Access to all patient results and tracking is also available but requires a St.Vincent’s Hospital staff member to log in through this page and then remainwith you until the function is completed.HOSPITAL CLINICAL MANUALOnce you open the St. Vincent’s Hospital Intranet, click on “Policies & Manuals”.This will open up the Policies & Manuals front page, scroll down to Directoryand click on either the Hospital Clinical Manual or the General Manual.You will have three options for finding the information you need, select one ofthe options and commence search. To print this information, scroll down to theend of policy and click on the printer icon. Note: select only the page numbersyou wish to print.PAGINGLAN PagingThe LAN Paging system is a quick and easy way to page staff members withinthe Hospital.
