Canadian PrairiesThe Canadian Prairies Chapter held itsFebruary meeting on the 9th at the HeatherCurling Club in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Seventeenmembers and guests were in attendancefor the Curling Funspiel. Supper was held at theclub and prizes were awarded.The Canadian Prairies Chapter held itsJanuary meeting on the 13th and 14th at theVictoria <strong>In</strong>n in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Two hundredmembers and guests were in attendancefor the bi-annual “Coolest Show” Mini Expo.Various speakers presented informative technicalsessions that were well attended. A tradeshow and banquet were held on the final day.A great time was had by both exhibitors andattendees.Columbia RiverThe Columbia River Chapter held its Marchmeeting on the 10th at the Port of VancouverSeafarer’s Center in Vancouver, Wash. Elevenmembers and guests were in attendance tolisten to Jeff Van Winkle speak on the topicof First Voice AutoExternal Defibrillator. TheChapter also held elections and listened to areport on <strong>GEAPS</strong> Exchange from those whoattended.Great PlainsThe Great Plains Chapter held its Marchmeeting on the 8th at Scoular <strong>Grain</strong> in Downs,Kan. Thirty-eight members and guestsattended an excellent meeting led by GaryKearn and Doug Lantz, Scoular <strong>Grain</strong>; RobbinKratzer, McPherson Concrete; Mike Byers,Habco; and Rick Watson, Watson Electric. Thefocus was on the construction of this impressivefacility and their day-to-day operations.Great RiverThe Great River Chapter held its December2009 meeting on the 21st at Calypso’s Buffetin Bettendorf, Iowa. Six members and guestswere in attendance to listen to Matt Kerrigan,operations manager, Bunge North America,speak on the topic of <strong>GEAPS</strong> Looking Forward.The meeting centered on ideas for promotingthe GRR chapter.Greater NebraskaThe Greater Nebraska Chapter held itsMarch meeting on the 16th at the HowardJohnson Motel in Grand Island, Neb. Twentyonemembers and guests were in attendanceto listen to chapter member Tom Zemanick,operations leader – AgHorizons U.S., Cargill<strong>In</strong>c, speak on the topic of <strong>Grain</strong> Engulfmentand Entrapment.Gulf SouthThe Gulf South Chapter held its Marchmeeting on the 25th at the Belle Terre CountryClub in LaPlace, La. Thirty-six members andguests were in attendance to listen to LanceLambert, Cargill, speak on the topic of BehavioralSafety and Safety Leadership.HoosierThe Hoosier Chapter held its March meetingon the 9th at the Brock <strong>Grain</strong> Systems inFrankfort, <strong>In</strong>d. Ten members and guests werein attendance to listen to Darren Zink, strategicaccounts manager, Brock <strong>Grain</strong> Systems, leada facility tour and discussion of dryer maintenance.After a very informative tour anddiscussion, a short business meeting and mealfollowed at Laura’s Catering.Kansas CityThe Kansas City Chapter held its Marchmeeting on the 16th at the Argosy Casino inRiverside, Mo. Twenty members and guestswere in attendance to listen to Todd Morey,sales manager, AIRLANCO, and Tom Clatanoff,president, Heart of America <strong>Grain</strong> <strong>In</strong>spection,speak on the topic of Bin Aeration and <strong>Grain</strong>Quality.Oregon TrailThe Oregon Trail Chapter held its Marchmeeting on the 24th at the Moose Lodge inOgallala, Neb. Thirteen members and guestswere present for a presentation on MapCon,preventative maintenance software, andspeaker Pat Ptacek, executive vice president,Nebraska <strong>Grain</strong> and Feed Association, sharedon three regulatory issues.Snake RiverThe Snake River Chapter held its Marchmeeting on the 16th at the Red Lion in Lewiston,Idaho. Ten members and guests werein attendance to listen to Dr. Vahid Ebadat,CEP, Chilworth Technology <strong>In</strong>c, speak on thetopic of Controlling Dust Cloud Explosions. Dr.Ebadat gave a presentation outlining the hazardsof dust explosions and how to determineproper safety measures to avoid them. This wasa joint meeting with the <strong>In</strong>land Empire Chapter.Twin PortsThe Twin Ports Chapter held its Marchmeeting on the 17th at the Hammond SteakHouse in Superior, Wis. Thirteen members andguests were in attendance to listen to Mike andPat Ojard speak on the topic of the New TwinPorts Tug Company. The chapter also recappedthe February Ladies Night and handed outfive-year pins.For Chapter Leaders: Reporting for RebatesThere’s Money Coming to Your Chapter...If You Follow These Easy StepsJune 1 is right around the corner and marks an important “Reporting for Rebates” deadline forsubmitting election results. Each chapter must hold an officer election in the spring and report theresults to the <strong>GEAPS</strong> office by June 1. You can find the Election Report Form on the Chapter LeaderResources page on <strong>GEAPS</strong>.com. Your chapter will earn a rebate check—3 percent of the dues paid byyour chapter members—if you submitted your meeting schedule by Sept. 1 last fall, you held andsubmitted a meeting report (also found online) for at least three meetings, and you turned in yourelection results by June 1. Your chapter can receive a good-sized check just for doing these three simpletasks throughout the year.
