The 9th Annual Re-MARCable Mattheessen’s Ice Cream and Fresh Fruit Socialpreparations are under way for Saturday, July 27th at 4pmat the MARC Plant Store, 1401 Seminary St. The social,that started as a small local fundraiser at the old HarrisSchool location has turned into a family friendly summersocial event that attracts over 300 to 400 people each year.“It has been amazing to watch this fun event take on a lifeof its own” states MARC Development and Fundraisingmanager Gordon Ross, “as many people have read, ourprogram has been hard hit by state and local funding cutsto our client services, since we help our clients whether ornot they have the ability to pay for these services our fundraisingefforts have become more and more important toreplace those revenue sources”.The event, known for its delicious “summer treats”will once again feature Mattheessen’s Ice Cream and theirown “make your own sundae” booth staffed by “TeamMattheessen”. “Brent and Christina Mattheessen are Godsends in my book” states MARC Executive Director DianaFlenard. “This wonderful couple stepped up to the platefor us a few years back and have continued to support thisevent with their business, staff and whole family beinginvolved. We are forever grateful for their support”.Besides the “make your own sundae” booth, Pepe’s dessertmaker Charlie Christensen will return with her amazingwarm mango cobbler, Louie’s Backyards Doug Shookbrings his old fashion homemade strawberry short cakes,Key West Cakes will be providing amazing cookies thatThe Cates Family in 1993are the perfect match with homemade Mattheessen’s icecream and Glazed Donuts will have their wonderfullyhomemade donuts while Blue Heaven’s Chef Guillaumewill return with his much loved banana bread ice creamsandwiches with warm caramel sauce.
