Since 1993 Mehfil Magazine has been both a window into the Indo-
Canadian community and a powerful vehicle for delivering marketing
messages to one of Canada’s most affluent markets. Widely read, much
anticipated and often collected for future reference, Mehfil has become
the gold standard in media for the Indo-Canadian community. Like the
magazine, the 2009 RBC Mehfil Magazine Awards for Excellence Gala
delivered a landmark event for the Indo-Canadian community. Tickets
sold out in less than 3 weeks with the event attracting the who’s who
of B.C.’s Indo-Canadian community to recognize nine outstanding
individuals, including one for lifetime achievement.
In the weeks ahead Mehfil Magazine will be seeking nominations for
the 2010 RBC Mehfil Magazine Awards for Excellence. We invite you to
participate in this important event for the Indo-Canadian community.

On October 3, 2009, nine awards were presented to nine individuals from the Indo-Canadian community. In
the weeks ahead Mehfil Magazine will be promoting the 2010 Awards Gala and seeking nominations. The
community is already looking forward to recognizing another outstanding group of winners.

Awards for Excellence Gala
The Mehfil Magazine Awards for Excellence Gala is the first annual
event of its kind. The 2009 event garnered significant media attention
from Indo-Canadian news outlets, community newspapers and major
mainstream media including the Vancouver Sun, The Province and
CBC Television. The 2010 event is much anticipated, with media
outlets already having expressed their desire to provide coverage
during and after the event and the Indo-Canadian community
already looking forward to recognizing another outstanding group
of individuals for their achievements and contributions to Canadian
society.
The 2010 RBC Mehfil Magazine Awards for Excellence Gala
will once again be attended by 500 influential members of the Indo-
Canadian community. For your review we include with this proposal

A prestigious, invitation-only event, the RBC Mehfil Magazine Awards for
Excellence Gala will host 500 guests, including influential individuals,
couples and members of key organizations.

High profile entertainment for the 2009 Gala included comedian Dan Nainan, flown in from New York, to
entertain guests with his unique brand of cultural humour, top Indian models Amanpreet Kaur Wahi and
Ishita Joshi, along with choreographer Rachna Anand, flown in from India to join Bollywood actor Rajat
Bedi on the runway for an extravagent fashion show, and Canadian broadcasting icon Peter Mansbridge,
flown in from Toronto, to deliver the evening’s keynote address.
