It smokes <strong>and</strong> swirls strangely. Heholds the vial a second. He looks at the letter to Beatrix,leaning in a prominent position on the table.142 CLOSE SHOT - JEKYLL AT MIRROR142Holding the vial, he examines his face, feels his skin,turning his head. He starts to raise the vial to his lips.Then he gets another thought. WE PULL BACK AND PAN LEFT ANDRIGHT IN LONG SHOTS as he puts vial back on table, runs tothe drapes at the back of the lab, pulls them to, over thewindows, then dashes up the stairs <strong>and</strong> locks the door. Hecomes down again, approaches the vial, slowly, picks it up.For a moment, he looks straight ahead into the CAMERA, asthough into the future. Then down the vial with one longgulp. For a second, nothing happens. Then he grips his throatin a violent convulsion, he chokes, groans, <strong>and</strong> gags. He canhardly breathe. Slowly, his face starts to change into ahaggard <strong>and</strong> horrible caricature of himself. He spins arounda couple of times, then falls to the floor, writhing.
