We ask as WEPAN UP WITH HIM, his back like an animal's in a crouch. Thetop of his head is strangely elongated, his ears are pointed.As yet we do not see his face but FOLLOW HIM as he slowlyshuffles, gasping <strong>and</strong> grunting to the mirror. There over hisshoulder, we get a look at his face for the first time. Itis hideous in its transformation into Evil, yet withalcontaining a strange fascinating Pan-like quality. At firsthe starts, as though an animal looking in the mirror for thefirst time. Then he peers closer. And he starts to laugh,slowly, softly at first, then mounting to loud yelps.JEKYLL(into mirror - likeeyeing a work ofgreat art)Look at you... look at you... whatbeautiful consumate evil!(shouting exultantly)There you are! And I made you! Whata rainbow of unspeakable colors couldyou paint the world's horizon if Iturned you loose!(laughs louder,triumphantly now)There it is, Sir Charles! Look atit, John Lanyon!
